Williams played 16 games for the #ShreveportPirates over the 2 years they existed in #CFL's American expansion (94-5). Returned to the CFL in 2000 for 6 games with Edmonton.
In between he stopped off with #WLAF/#NFLE and the #Arena Football League before landing in the #NFL, playing for both the Vikings and Eagles. Career recorded 27 sacks & 114 tackles, earning CFL East All-Star honors in 1994.

The #CFL's American expansion started thanks to the World League of American Football (#WLAF) - which had 10 teams in US/Canada/Europe from 1991-2. The #SacramentoSurge won #WorldBowl II - only to have the league suspend operations from 1993-4 and return as Europe-only in 1995.
In 1993 the Surge owner, front office, & several players morphed into the #SacramentoGoldMiners to become 1st #CFL team in United States.

#Introduction I'm a U.S.-based #CFL fan from Chicago who has been following the league for 15+ years. Fan of alternative #football (#USFL, #WLAF, #NFLEurope, #XFL, and previously a season ticket holder to #ArenaFootball Chicago Rush - RIP). Ancestors are from Saskatchewan, which makes me a #Riders fan. Love the Canadian game, passionate fans, & oddities that make it special - including the failed US expansion in 1993-5.
