  1. Not bad for first day of Wizball, two colors and 35420 points. Cat skills need a lot of work!

  2. #Wizball non era solo un gioco, e questo non è solo un #remix #C64, ma molto molto di più

Anni che sento questo brano interpretato da #reyn e non mi stanco mai

  3. Have you ever seen such colours on the #C64? #MayhemInMonsterland was a brave attempt to bring a console style jump'n'run, modelled closely after Nintendo's and Sega's mascots, to the best-selling home computer of all time. While at the same time, paying homage to one of the iconic games of that system: #Wizball.

  4. Kind of a #rant. About how people play #Wizball in videos on the net. #retrogaming #c64 #atari8bit

I know my comment on the website will not be published, as every critical comment is just going into the void there. And I mean critical, not insulting. Hurray or be deleted.

So I just comment here because I can't hold back anymore after seeing this shit multiple times...

"It almost enrages me to see Wizball videos on the net where people playing it have no idea what they are doing. :( I suppose the activation of the "no bounce" control extra at around 2:14 was a sheer coincidence. And I mean, how to activate your extras is the very first sentence in the "getting started" screen. If you realize, something shouldn't quite be like this, why not read the "getting started" screen, before making a video?! This particular thing (activate extras in Wizball) is like common retro computing knowledge since 1987 and this is a retro computing website, boy I am so triggered... :("

Btw. the Atari conversation (called "Zauberball") shown looks fabulous!!

  5. One of the most beloved games on the #C64, #Wizball 's specialty was cooperative multiplayer. Something not all that often found in games of the time. Or even today, for that matter. Which is too bad, isn't it? Why always this focus on competition?

    Today: ripa PC Speaker patch

We’ve integrated ripa’s impulse-model PC speaker patch alongside DOSBox’s existing (discrete-model) PC speaker implementation, which is still the default.
To use it, set the config setting 'pcspeaker=impulse'.

James-F and VileRancour have mentioned in the linked thread that it generally improves the accuracy of square-wave effects, such as in Commander Keen and Duke Nukem. This patch also can produce sounds when none previously existed, such as in Wizball, as noted by ripsaw8080.

Nerdissimo eppure sublime.

    La #retro #scene è veramente #arte, in tutti i sensi.
