So I managed to get #Witcher2 running on #SteamDeck (GoG version)
1) Install through Heroic
2) Use latest GE proton
3) Via "use different exe to run" install vcredist, dotnet and directx (installers are in the redist folder where Witcher 2 is installed (its prefix folder)
4) Then use the same option to select witcher2.exe instead of Launcher.exeHowever... bypassing the launcher prevents you from directly changing settings (one has to modify configs). The game would not launch in Game Mode. It only runs in Desktop mode.
In order to use gamepad as gamepad, you need to launch Steam in desktop mode, switch to Big Picture, then go to Settings -> Controllers and edit the layout for Desktop mode. Just use the template for gamepad, instead of the desktop layout.
From that point, you can only use desktop via touchscreen, which is very unwieldy. But the game is at least playable. Not really worth it, though.

Good question. Maybe they don't want the support costs or bad taste from the #Witcher2 'port'? I'd guess #Google may've provided a good deal of support for porting to #Stadia maybe even paid decent money for it. Whatever steps are there in terms of taking the Stadia release and packaging it for #Steam they seem to take a while as Metro: Exodus was released on Stadia a good while ago & the #Linux version is still WIP:https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Metro-Exodus-Linux-Still-WIP
At least 4A is willing to put in the work.

I'd guess #Google may've provided a good deal of support for porting to #Stadia maybe even paid decent money for it.
