The #Arduino homepage is so bloated now it crashes my browser, it's amazing!
On other news, I'm going to try switching fom #firmata / #pyfirmata to #telemetrix (https://mryslab.github.io/telemetrix/) let's see how it goes...
Also, our recurrent reminder that the origins of Arduino are more interesting that what is usually reported: https://arduinohistory.github.io/ #Wiring

This house is great for WTFs. Each bedroom has an outlet and a ceiling fan controlled by a light switch. I eas hoping they did it the easy way and used the lamp box to tie everything together, but nope, one cable in the box. So,i decided to next look at the switch, maybe that's the junction, and… Off the top of my head i only know two ways to wire a circuit like this, but they came up with a third, they used a 14-3 Romex cable in the switch box. Umm, i'm trying to think of what they could've done, and drawing a bit of a blank.

Ooooh just found that Phoenix connectors in panel form exist! This feels like more what I’m looking for. #electronics #smarthome #wiring #electrical

Has anyone have any recommendations for three-pin flush, wall mountable sockets, suitable for low-voltage internal residential use? Use case is providing a socket to plug a DC shade motor into (one common, and two 24v connections) at a window frame. I was thinking of XLR jacks, but wondered if I’m missing something obvious. And I’d rather avoid them as they look hella clunky.

I'm new to hobbyist electronics. Could you help me with a basic newbie question?
I'm plugging a bunch of female dupont connectors on to a male circuit plug. They're so loose though they just keep falling off.
I'm assuming there's some basic way of tightening the connectors so they stay connected... maybe via the hole on the side?
Any ideas/boosts? Thank you!

StateScoop: Mislabeled wires responsible for two-day IT outage in South Dakota, officials say. “A wiring issue at the South Dakota State Data Center was responsible for a two-day power outage that interrupted the state’s IT systems in August, two state officials told lawmakers on Thursday.”

Because the back side of the glider's instrument panel is so crowded, I have moved the vario speaker to the space under the turtle deck, aft of the wing spars.
To make connections easier, I added some 3.5mm audio jacks and plugs to the speaker box and the long cable running aft. (2nd photo)
The first photo shows one audio plug and two jacks. What's up with that?
The standalone vario has an audio output, and the glide computer also has an audio output. They use different styles of sound, programmable with slightly different parameters. Now I can more easily choose and change which audio output I want to use.
This should end my soldering work. Tomorrow I'll be working on (third photo) all the pneumatic connections from the three pressure probes: pitot, static, and total energy...to all the flight instruments that need these pressure signals.

Reading about the #Arduino acquisition brings up dear memories from its early days... Co-running/hosting some of the very first Arduino workshops in London in 2007/8, sharing the office with Massimo's mini-company TinkerIt Ltd., meeting the Arduino core team for dinners... prior to that, working on Processing with Casey Reas and Hernando Barragán (creator of Wiring, from which Arduino emerged, directly or indirectly[1]), using Arduino to teach colleagues (then seeing some of them switch careers as a [positive] result), teaching uni workshops and my kids about basic electronics, programming and physical interaction design (also remembering the buzz phrase "Physical Computing"), using it for a bunch of interactive installations (incl. for major clients), opening up my world, creatively and professionally... Such exciting times! Forever grateful!

Successful test of the right wing tip light assembly.
The electrical power was provided from the wing root, 25 ft away.
The first comments to this post will include some photos.
Because glider wings and winglets are removable, I had to make the wiring connections work despite repeated disassembly. I am using automotive door jamb connectors that are spring-loaded knobs or bullets of brass.

Just wondering, has anyone tried using this remote control to turn off the lights?

I had my combination ceiling fan and lights replaced a while back. One feature that I never knew it had was a string of four candelabra or Christmas lights, I guess for mood lighting.
Can it be repurposed? I don't recognize the plug, and I'm wondering if it can be adapted or if I should just snip it off and use something else.

You should always use the smallest legible font in your wordprocessor. Otherwise, the resulting PDF will be too heavy and will make your electrical wiring burst.
