The #WinterFuelAllowance was problematic, but shouldn't have been cut without a package of measures to address fuel poverty, such as insulating homes, supporting low cost heating and addressing the benefits crisis
I expect we will see a rise in deaths this winter as a result. Our hospitals are already warning they are seeing massive rises in flu which is caused by fuel poverty

You may not know but, the unions' motion to have a vote on the #WinterFuelAllowance was originally timetabled for Monday but was moved back to the 'graveyard' slot when many candidates had gone home.
The Chancellor gave her speech on Monday.
It is not known who adjusted the timetable.

I admit, I've been a bit confused over the winter fuel payment drama as I thought it was about giving pensioners allowance for car fuel, and I'm aware pensioners have access to bus pass, so I've been really confused.
Now I'm aware it's about paying for heating, yes this is a really weird and cruel thing to do, and a very weird hill to die on.
