Lowest temperatures (ºF) reported during the 2025-26 cold season (Nov-Apr) in and around Alaska. Braeburn, YT -68F (-55.7C) was the lowest reliable temperature in the region this past winter. February 2026 for the Arctic overall (land and seas poleward of 60ºN) was the coldest since 2009 in ERA5 courtesy @[email protected]. Northwest Territories, Canada had the second coldest February since 1994 while the Nordic Arctic the coldest since 2011. #Arctic #Climate #Winter2026

Fairbanks winter in one graphic. Average temperature of -14.6F (-25.9C) lowest since 1970-71. However, the lowest temperature of -50F (-45.6C) was not especially unusual. Snowy, but mid-winter 2021-22 had more snow and 2016-17 almost exactly the same snowfall Dec-Feb. #akwx #Climate #Winter2026
