This morning I got to spend time along a new part of the Winooski River. Here’s the North Branch as it flows into Montpelier, #Vermont. This is the #Winooski River in Winooski, as it cascades down to #LakeChamplain. The #river is the largest tributary to the Lake in #Vermont, and its #watershed covers 10% of the state. This former #mill town is revitalizing its riverfront & downtown with housing, shops, & restaurants. The rapids/falls would be much taller if there weren’t a hydroelectric dam a short distance downstream. I’ll share another view of this reach for #WaterfallWednesday.

A little bit of hydrology action to welcome me to #Vermont. The #Winooski River is at the action level at Waterbury and expected to rise to minor #flooding there & in Essex Junction (#BurlingtonVT). Hearing reports of road flooding in that area already.

It looks bad out there and flooding is just another reason to stay home tonight.
