Just finished a game of Wingspan with pretty tight scoring. The winner was in the lead at 90, but the rest of us were at 82, 81, 80, and then 73. Five players might be too much (the game did take a long time) but it meant more birds to admire at each flip of the draw pile. We played with North America and Oceania, our two most familiar bird populations. It seemed an appropriate day to get a bunch of pastel eggs on the table.

Endlich mal wieder das klassische Flügelschlag (inkl. Europa und Australien) auf dem Tisch gehabt.
So als Vorfreude auf die nächste Erweiterung. Jamey Stegmaier hat sie in seiner Silversterankündigung kurz vorgestellt, es wird Süd- und Mittelamerika / Karibik mit einem neuen Kartentyp: Kolibris, die irgendwie auf einem gemeinsamen Spielbereich liegen / abgelegt werden müssen. Offizielle Vorstellung ist Mittwoch.
Bin schon ganz gespannt...

Spent a lovely afternoon yesterday playing #Wingspan with my wife and mothers-in-law, aka The Moms™.
Since we moved closer and have spent more time with them this year, their cat Sinclair has finally warmed up to me. She’s gone from hiding out in the bedroom to being talky and tapping me on the arm to get attention and pets.

Some friends and I played #Wingspan online for the first time. Been wanting to play this one for ages (either physical boardgame or online - not picky!) and am really happy w/ the online version, if only so I can click each unique bird card and hear the fun sounds they make. The bird facts are also a nice touch, heh heh.

Wyrmspan is probably the most complicated Wingspan game to date, but it is hella fun! And I love it that we get a whole book of lore for all the dragons 🥰😊

Man, the #tariffs are really screwing over the #boardgaming community. A $15 billion (2023) annual US market, circling down the drain.
It's hard to keep track of everyone with current unfulfilled #kickstarters, but anyone sitting with products in China is most likely fucked. Which means the companies behind, #SpiritIsland #Gloomhaven #Wingspan #ShadowsofBrimstone #HoMM3 #Middara etc.
I hope the community can recover, but too many indies rely on the US market to survive (economies of scale).

Our Monday gaming group has grown a lot over the past couple of years. It's been exciting to see! It was just four of us back in 2021. Now we have between 9 and 12 regulars showing up. I'm also proud of our wide age range of 20-76(?). All lovely people!
We kicked things off with #TurboDrift. This little #Buttonshy wallet packs a whole lot of awesome!
I had an appointment to get to, so we played #Overboss. Quick little tile laying game. I love the artwork, and it's always a fun one.
Then half the group played #Finspan and my half played #Wyrmspan. Wyrm feels like too much of a struggle to me. But it's fine. #Wingspan is still my favorite of all the spans. And not just for the birds, which I can't stop staring at (in game, and irl). Three are so many more cool card interactions. It always feels satisfying.
