Drinking: Susana Balbo Cabernet Sauvignon 2024
A very nice, velvety wine with lots of fresh black cherry and blackberry on the nose. Full-ish body, medium+ alcohol, and a fresh herbal lift. Still young and fresh, but tannins aren't overwhelming thanks to a lovely bit of French Oak, I assume.Reading: Play Thing by Bea Setton
Fairly lurid prose and an interesting protagonist, I've found this one an enjoyable read so far. At around 40% in, there's still a lingering unease though at times the foreshadowing can be a bit on-the-nose. -

The word ‘ravie’ translates to the feminine version of ‘delighted’ in French and when I drank this wine, I was delighted. I was delighted because it was fresh and fun but also had complexity and structure. There are many common wine blends. For example, Grenache is often blended with Syrah and Mourvèdre, and Cabernet Franc is often blended with Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. But sometimes you come across a wine blend that catches your eye because you have never seen these grapes together.
