According to my passport, I am a "citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain **AND** Northern Ireland - MILLIONS of us would now like the same #Brexit deal (#WindsorAgreement) bestowed upon people who live in Northern Ireland... hopefully not too much too ask...!

Over 7m people in UK are currently in #fuelpoverty; more that 10% of income, excluding housing costs is spent on #energy!

What is #JeremyHunt going to do: shift support available to raise people's bills this spring....

So in the next couple of weeks we are either going to see a U-Turn, or we're going to see an extended programme of distraction;

perhaps #RishiSunakPM is expecting the DUP to cause such difficulties about the #WindsorAgreement that Hunt's budget will be on the inside pages?

Q. is the 'emergency brake' or Stormont Brake which is a central element of the #WindsorAgreement actually a legislative brake or an ornament?

@davidallengreen argues that its the latter, and I'd trust his interpretation on this more than any public pronouncement by #RishiSunakPM or his nominated spokesperson... so once the DUP realise, I'm guessing there may be some fireworks!

I think Sunak boasting about NI being in an exciting position and a very attractive place to invest is peak Brexit.

Actually, it's not. Peak Brexit is people cheering this as an act of amazing statecraft and diplomacy. While they sit in shit-filled rivers, eating mouldy turnips, they are actually cheering the fact NI get access to the SM.

The doublethink being displayed right now is staggering.

It's a lovely touch to name the new deal "The Windsor Agreement". Presumably in memory of the Queen that Boris Johnson lied to, to prevent the old deal from being scrutinised #WindsorFramework #WindsorAgreement #Brexit

The #WindsorAgreement includes:

NI & UK trade in twin lanes (different not less bureaucratic checking?)

Continued engagement with EU on state-aid & VAT issues (not much 'taking back control here')

NI governance has 'emergency brake' to hold-back automatic adoption of EU regulations (tightly drawn & may promot future frustration & claims of 'betrayal')

Some flexibility (for pets for instance) on EU/UK rule differences (looks tokenistic)

#ECJ retains role...

The DUP are unlikely to be happy!

So Northern Ireland is effectively the only part of the UK still in the EU, as before.

This is the first step on the road to #Rejoin.
