CW: Ranting about Microslop mishandling the Lumia 950 and 950 XL
An expensive phone with cheap-feeling plastic used in its construction combined with a half-baked OS version is a really, really bad value proposition. "Oh but the camera is good!" Yeah ok, I don't only buy phones for a camera even though that's a really important part of it for me. Don't forget the speaker being on the back next to the camera and the weird volume button layout for one or both of them.

#WindowsPhone was saved from a terrible fate by going away before #Windows11 became a thing and all the obnoxious stuff it brought and "AI" trash polluted Windows. #Windows10 isn't good but it's way better than 11.

Random thoughts: You know what would be nice? An accurate #WindowsPhone launcher that could use the color schemes from #MaterialYou. Bonus points if you recreated Windows Phone 7's start screen. Additional bonus points if you could switch between 7.x to 7.8 and 8.x to 10 layouts.

The firmware version for #Windows10Mobile Lumias could've been called Lumia Emerald, but instead it was just called "Lumia Windows 10".

In my #dream or when I was waking up, I figured out a formula to allow tiles to scale to the size of the tilesGrid control to allow the window to be resized and for tiles to adjust automatically if you want. It's not perfect, but it's fun to play around with and is in "start.config". It's inspired by a picture of Windows 10 Mobile running full-screen on a #laptop that I saw a few years ago on #Reddit, I think in r/WindowsPhone.

I've managed to implement tile wallpapers like on #WindowsPhone 8.1. I'm not sure why the icons are blurry now, but it's just related to a #postmarketOS Edge update I think, because even code from the old icons-on-tiles branch exhibits this issue now, too. Anyway, there's also an option (in the code, for now) to use ordinary behind-tile wallpapers like most UIs (and #Windows10Mobile, but it's not extending into the All Apps list because I don't like that).

#Android is by far the worst-designed mobile OS. At least #Windows10Mobile had some redeeming qualities kept from #WindowsPhone (the best-designed OS) like #LiveTiles, and even my feature phone OS did just fine getting me text messages, calls, voicemails, and remaining minutes/texts. But who decided that it would be a good idea to put a color tint on backgrounds, even when they're black and running on an (AM)OLED display?!

Fun fact: #WindowsPhone outlived the #WiiU if you consider late 2016 to be the end of its life, which is when the last Wii U's were made last I knew (#Windows10Mobile doesn't count).
