Do you use a USB switch (to use a keyboard/mouse/whatever on multiple PCs)? Do you find your devices stop working on one #Windows10 PC after switching away and back to it?

Your PC is probably turning off that USB port for nonsense power-saving reasons. You'll want to dig deep into your power settings and disable "USB selective suspend setting".

Support timelines updated for operating systems as of May 2026

Following our recent internal studies about our support timeline for our projects’ servicing versions and our projects’ supported operating systems, and given the situation that Windows 11 is in, we have decided to modify the support timeline for operating systems as of this month.

This modification is a reward to all of you for appreciating our efforts in any way, whether it’s reading our posts and updates here, using our products, or sharing your kind comments to us, we appreciate you and your kind support.

The support timeline for running our projects for the below operating systems has changed:

• We have cancelled the EOL date of Windows 11. This means that our projects are supported on Windows 11 indefinitely (for now).
• We have expanded the end of support date for Windows 10 to May 1st, 2031.
• We have selected October 1st, 2027, as the end of support date for macOS 15 (Sequoia).

Also, we have finalized the support timeline for FreeBSD! We appreciate all your support, and we encourage you to read the whole article here.

Die gute Tat des Tages

Die Frau Nachbarin, eine Rentnerin, hat einen Rentnerlaptop (nicht speziell für alte Leute, aber er ist halt alt) und der hatte bis heute noch mit Windows 10 und seinem Legacy-Dasein zu kämpfen. Schließlich waren da noch Downloads von Windows 7 drauf (Firefox 4.0).

Ich möchte also wirklich nicht wissen, was der schon alles mitgemacht hat. Ihr wisst schon, was jetzt kommt - er hat keine Möglichkeit, Windows 11 zu empfangen. Mal abgesehen davon, dass sie eh keine Lust mehr hatte, sich von Microsoft überwachen zu lassen.

Machen wir’s kurz: Linux Mint hat jetzt eine Nutzerin mehr. Jetzt ist ihr System wieder schnell.

For me (a seasoned #Windows user), the Emoji Panel in #Windows11 is objectively worse than #Windows10. It's sparser (6 vs 8), adds unnecessary hierarchy to reach a specific type & has long text in "symbols" that hides the types.

Windows 11 is trying to install an update that is already installed. This is usually because corrupted files in the SoftwareDistribution folder prevent the system from detecting that the update is already installed, or because incomplete or failed installation attempts leave Windows in a loop.
