It’s been a while since I did a 20-hour day but damn it was a good one. Did the Formation #5k followed by an hour of #windband sightreading, then a rip to the ferry to Vancouver, a visit with my aunt, dinner with her and my son, and then 3 sets of #yachtrock downtown before a brief repose, breakfast with my son, and now back on the ferry home. #running #bass #doublebass #windensemble

I'm appreciating the free wifi on this aircraft, as well as the fact that I'm kinda mashed into my seat and still able to work without contorting my body. Just did a fun arrangement of some music for brass quintet and woodwind quintet for funsies, now going to turn my attention to this big band thing I’ve been meaning to do.

Wanted to share this performance of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherezade arranged for wind band, from the soundtrack to Hibike Euphonium. Scheherezade is one of my favorite pieces, and this recording is fantastic. I think the arrangement does a great job of capturing the texture of the piece, which I feel is really important in adapting orchestral music for wind band. :mmikusing:
