  1. #affinity on #linux is a bit more tricky. I evaluated #winapps, but still need to run Windows in the background is also something I don’t like although I’m impressed by winapps-org as a simple test environment. Currently I’m following the wine route with input from #AffinityOnLinux with some progress but still some render glitches - let’s see if this end up in practical use

  2. 🎉 Wow, who knew running Windows apps on Linux could be so... native-feeling? 😂 Thanks to #WinApps, you can finally experience the *joy* of seamlessly integrating your favorite #bloatware into Ubuntu, because who wouldn't want a bit of Microsoft crashing their open-source party? 🖥️🎉

  6. 🚫 Docker Desktop unsupported, #Podman unsupported, distributions emulating Docker through Podman socket unsupported, rootless containerization solutions currently unsupported

🛠️ Built with #NodeJS and #Go, open source and accepts contributions for bug fixes, feature improvements, documentation updates and general feedback

🌟 Inspired by similar projects including #WinApps, #Cassowary, and dockur/windows which is also used within WinBoat architecture

  7. This is incredibly interesting - seamless emulation of Windows app in Linux!

winapps-org/winapps: Run Windows apps such as Microsoft Office/Adobe in Linux (Ubuntu/Fedora) and GNOME/KDE as if they were a part of the native OS, including Nautilus integration. Hard fork of github.com/Fmstrat/winapps/

  8. Reclaim your Windows disk space. SpaceSniffer uses a treemap to visually show what's eating storage. Easily spot, filter, & delete large files. This free, portable app is a must-try. Run as admin for a full view. #DiskCleanUp #WinApps #FreeTool

  9. It took me one day to make #Winapps work on my #NixOS #Linux machine, but now I am working on MS Office within my KDE and I like the appearance. Unlike when running MS Office from the #virtual machine, the image quality is good.

  10. @yoasif in the end , it s a bit sad but i feel the best way to beat vendors that don t release linux apps is to seamlessly virtualize with #winapps windows 10 machine

  11. Cassowary

Run Windows Applications on Linux as if they are native, Use linux applications to launch files files located in windows vm without needing to install applications on vm. With easy to use configuration GUI

    #python #windows #linux #vm #opensource #winapps

  12. Managed to install MSOffice on Ubuntu using Winapps! Performance is really good, almost seamless. Also had to convert my Linux partition to LVM to be able to extend the root partition and make space for the Windows VM (should have setup LVM in the first place). Was quite a task. If this setup works, I will seriously consider getting rid of my Windows partition for good. :ubuntu:
