@jdmccafferty We have our very own St Marinus (15 Nov): the Iro-Scottish hermit and missionary Marinus who, together with #Anianus, proselytised around here in Bavaria. #Wilparting (#Irschenberg), however, is not now a city republic.
TIL: The entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irschenberg in the English-language #Wikipedia attributes the name ‘Irschenberg’ to ‘Irish mountain’ with reference to Marinus. 🤨 The entry https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irschenberg in the German Wikipedia assumes that the name is derived from lat. ursus (bear) due to the older name ‘Ursenperig’.
