  1. Another pick for this week's #JukeboxFridayNight theme, #FireSmokeAndHeat.

This very enjoyable Drifters soundalike was issued on the short-lived Heidi record label. Distributed by Atlantic Records, Heidi was a showcase for the productions of Tom Dowd and Bert Keyes, and if my memory serves me right, it may have been owned by them as well.

  2. Once-dying Mexican river delta slowly nursed back to life rfi.fr/en/international-news/2

"#conservationists secured land as well as #irrigation permits, cleared invasive shrubs and planted thousands of native #trees... After years of this type of work, we now have a #forest of #poplars and #willows on 260 hectares on a stretch of the #ColoradoRiver. Fauna has returned. Many #birds have returned. The rejuvenation has also brought back the #beaver—a species that had largely disappeared in the area"

  3. Had a lovely #lunchtime walk with the @druid earlier on.

Nice to see that the #willows are starting to do their thing and adorning the trees with their sparkly bundles of fluffy marvelousness. They remind me of caterpillars with Mohicans.

  4. #Writers, what's with the hate for willow trees? Why are they seen as evil and the harbingers of abject horror?

We had willows when I was growing up. I have only good memories of one in particular. It was massive and provided great relief from the hot Summer sun. It was also great for climbing, which as every kid knows is the reason that trees were invented in the first place.

    I'm truly curious.

This may or may not be a spoiler for the book I just boosted.
