Received an election flyer for Ardeshir Zarezade, who is running for city councillor in Willowdale (North York, Toronto).
Adding 1000 officers would be a ~20% increase to our current numbers (we have ~5400). Policing is already $1.7B (9%) of our city budget.
I'd suggest if you're going to propose cutting taxes, you should be highlighting where you're planning to cut, rather than where you're planning to increase spending by 20%.

Our councillor eventually stopped moderating this FB group and gave admin access to a team, while she still kept admin access.
Some community famous people got banned from those 2 FB Groups due to constant rule breaking (aka being assholes). Now they created a 3rd group, the "free speech one".

Just finished Willowdale
Yesterday's Farms, Today's Legacy
By Scott KennedyReally interesting - it describes the period of the suburb I live in from land grants from the crown up to residential development post WW2 - the families that cleared the land and built farms.
This area is now full of condo towers - it's just amazing to think of the transformation over the past 80 years. The book highlights a few of the original homes that remain.
