125 years ago today, #WilliamMcKinley, 25th #USPresident (Republican: 1897-1901), died in Buffalo at 58, after being shot 8 days earlier by anarchist Leon Czolgosz.
#RIP 💐🥺😭 -
#OTD 1901 in #Buffalo NY , while visiting the Pan-American Exposition and hosting a meet & greet in the #TempleofMusic , the sitting US Prez #WilliamMcKinley was assassinated by a self proclaimed #Anarchist who'd become disgruntled with his #AmercanDream after losing his job during the late 90's #EconomicPanic .
After waiting in a reception line, unemployed drifter #LeonCzolgosz pulled out a $4.50 revolver he'd recently bought and shot the President 2x at 4:07 pm.
“I done my duty,” he reportedly said as the 58 yr old #McKinley recoiled and put his hands over his wounds. A black waiter toppled the assassin, as police and soldiers and men waiting in line hit and kicked Czolgosz who was soon blood-spattered, beaten and unmoving. McKinley was half conscious and is said to have muttered “Be easy with him, boys”.
By 5:20 pm surgeons had McKinley under ether and were attempting to remove the bullets that had penetrated him. “The greatest difficulty was the great size of President McKinley’s abdomen and the amount of fat present,” the surgeon later noted.
Two days after the shooting, doctors told reporters the #RepublicanPresident and civil war #veteran was past the danger point and they were considering trying one of Edison’s new X-ray machines to help locate the remaining bullet hidden in the President's fifty-six-inch girth, but they never did.
Gangrene had reportedly set in, and the President passed on Friday, September 13th.
“I shot the president because I thought it would help the working people and for the sake of the common people. I am not sorry for my crime,” stated 28 yr old Leon Czolgosz just before he was executed on October 29th after a very speedy trial.
Auburn Prison guards plopped him in an #ElectricChair, tightened straps on his head and twelve minutes past seven, 1,700 volts of electricity coursed through Leon Czolgosz, and afterwards his corpse was unceremoniously dissolved in carbolic acid, wiping all traces of his existence from the earth.
The successor to the Presidency Teddy Roosevelt, never publicly mentioned the assassin by name, but described #anarchism as a crime against humanity itself rather than as a form of political protest.

In 1901 U.S. president W. McKinley was shot and killed by an anarchist called Czolgosz. During interrogation Czolgosz claimed to be inspired by Goldman, which led to her arrest for "assassination plans". However, Czolgosz and Goldman didn't know each other at all, on the contrary, Czolgosz had tried to get in contact with her, but she thought he was an infiltrator. After two weeks of detention Goldman was set free and Czolgosz got convicted of murder. During this entire time Goldman had refused to condemn Czolgosz' actions, which completely isolated her from the anarchist movement.

There remains, world-wide in journalism, those pundits who are compelled (if not wedded) to clinging to the idea that #Trump is somehow a god-tier, twelve-dimensional chess player whose strategies are simply unknowable for mere mortals
Here we go again
"...are better understood as strategic bargaining moves where markets both constrain and serve as tools to enhance his leverage"
No
Trump is a profoundly disturbed narcissist and a demonstrated, serial, pathological liar
Trump has the attention span and knowledge depth of a goldfish
He's simply been lucky, mostly because he's never suffered any substantive, real-world consequences for any of his conduct

Another day, another adventure..
This.. Is me right now in all my exhausted, wavy haired glory. Emerson has a car now, and I am Out and About with him because he bribed me with coffee 🤣. I’m waiting for him while he gets his hair cut. Unfortunately, his sensory issues make it so he can’t grow his hair out long like he wants to.
We trolled the coffeeshop before this because after getting a total of $19.01, he said “1901 was a good year”, to which I said “no it wasn’t. That’s when William McKinley died.” And then we playfully debated on whether or not 1901 being good was “a matter of perspective” in light of that or not…
I’m pretty sure that everyone there thinks we are weird, disappointed vampires, or both now 🤣. Another barista joined in later on as the conversation progressed and I sorta gave him a theology lecture.. Oops.
The AuDHD goes hard.
We are going to a local bookstore after this because we are incorrigible.
See y’all soon.

[05:45] Trump wil torenhoge tariefmuren.
Voorheen maakte fietsmerk Gazelle bijvoorbeeld alles in Nederland.
