September 23 in the #WillametteValley, tomato harvest from 4 plants. My opinion is that the two Russian heirloom tomatoes, "Brown Sugar" and "Bread and Salt" are spectacular varieties for this climate. I planted 2 of the "Moneymaker" variety from a local nursery, and they produce similar fruit to "Early Girl", but mature earlier, produce more fruit, and fruit longer. It's been a good year for tomatoes. I've saved seeds from the Russian heirlooms.

This is my first time enjoying muddled fresh #currents from the #McMinnville Farmers Market. Wow! They’re perfectly tart, the seeds are bitter and chew like gum. It’s nice mixed with Passion fruit, and would probably go nicely with pineapple or other sweeter juices. I highly recommend adding gin! #WillametteValley #Oregon.

@dillyd There were two prescribed fires in the #WillametteValley, coupled with some smoke drifting in from fires in the south and east. It makes for nice sunsets, at least.
I would say that we are about six weeks or less away from the end of fire season, and about three from the leaves changing color 🍁

I was really pleased when a second native #bumblebee (yellow-faced bumble bee) joined the first on this Greater Bird's-Foot-Trefoil yesterday…until my careful aim couldn't keep up with the effects of that second bee's weight on the flower's trajectory!
