Last swim with the built-in floating devices. Quite fittingly, my trusty orange Puffin personal buoy has also handed in its notice after 6ish years of oceans and lakes. Fair enough. I'll treat myself to a fancy new dry bag buoy in October. Speaking of October: I tried to have a wee chat with Poseidon, and hopefully we made a deal for calm seas on my first swim back. But who knows? The gods can be fickle after all.

I went for a swim yesterday outdoors. The water is now chilly though not yet cold. It was lovely once in. I'm hoping I might get used to cool water and this won't be the last time.
I am not an autumn lover but the end of summer doesnt distress me like it used to.

You'd hardly believe this is Spain in August 😆 a bit of rain—earlier this morning, not even now—has driven all but the wetsuited serious swimmers away, and I pretty much had the beach to myself. 🤩 Amazing last swim with tape. Next two weeks I have to either brave it in a binder or sports bra or just skip swimming entirely. We'll see. But right now, all that matters is that one perfect swim. 🥰

The Seine reopens to Paris swimmers for second summer.
Swimmers will for the second year be able to cool off at designated points along the Seine river in Paris this summer, authorities said Friday, as well as along the Marne river in the suburbs.
In Paris, the swimming season was to open at three official bathing sites on 4 July, the mayor’s office said.

Tidal Pool Swim
In Hermanus on Monday to collect our unsold paintings from an art gallery we decided a bit of tidal pool swimming was in order. We discovered Ficks Pool and decided that was the right thing to do.
The water was icy probably 16°C but still we swam and it was fun.
And I got caught by a wave!
We had coffee and a pizza in a restaurant overlooking the pool afterwards.
