This weekend as part of the Great UK Waterblitz with co-members of the local Green Party the results of completed testings are showing Winchesters Itchen as having a poor water quality which for a place gifted with chalkstreams is a bit gutting.
I dont know what to say but too many years of austerity and refusals to commit to change have left us with this.
Time for change.. really, please consider forcing whichever MP you are stuck with until the general election, consider saturating your council with Green representatives and let's get started advocating for our waterways as well as our neighbourhoods.

Lovely afternoon for paddleboarding along the North Tyne; calm and sunny. You can paddle 1.25km upstream from Chollerford before the current deflects you. Then I had a quick swim... it's definitely getting colder! 🥶😂 Only 6 minutes according to my Garmin, and it was beginning to feel chilly!

Last year, French authorities spent 1.4 billion euros ($1.5 billion) cleaning up the Seine so it could be used for Olympic competitions. Now, members of the public get to benefit. Three new swimming sites are now open: One close to Notre Dame Cathedral, another near the Eiffel Tower and a third in eastern Paris. It's the first time swimming in the Seine has been legal since 1923. it was a brief swim though, got out quite swiftly
i met a flotilla of jellyfish, some moon jellyfish, some compass jellyfish
i got slightly stung by one of the compass jellys. only slightly, it didn't tingle for very long

For more than 100 years, Foggintor Quarry was one of three large Dartmoor granite quarries providing stone for landmarks such as Nelson’s Column. Now the moor has reclaimed this once industrial landscape.
The quarry is now a still, deep lake, great for wild swimming (so I'm told). Long abandoned and wild again.

10 minute lake swim in chilly water and light rain. Cully was deeply unimpressed with a short outing, but barked in the shallows while a friend and I got some swimming in.
