Cooled from our #WildSwim days at Lac des Montagnès we headed on to a campsite in central #Carcassonne, the finalé of our trip. Back in Feb we saw Ludovico #Einaudi in #Australia at #SydneyOperaHouse & this was our chance for a repeat #concert in another iconic venue - #TheatreJeanDeschamps amphithéâtre in La Cité. And what a venue! We strolled the busy streets of the citadel enjoying the smells of food & flowers before taking our seats for the performance - a magical night. #France

The temperature in this area of #France hit 37c, with an overnight low of 25c, difficult to exercise, difficult to sleep. So after #Albi we decided we’d had enough urban areas so skipped past #Castres & straight to Lac des Montagnès, in the hills near Mazamet. We needed water therapy to help us chill. We passed a few rainy days near #Parentis-en-Born, watching groups of kids learn sailing, and hiked an overgrown river-side walk into the town centre. Then we moved south to St #Eulalie-en-Born, finding a spacious €5 #motorhome aire on grass with an outdoor shower. We enjoyed 32k of #cycling to #Mimizan followed by a 15k walk around the perimeter of lac #Aureilhan, starting at the beautiful Promenade Fleurie gardens. Twice we cycled to nearby #Gastes for a cooling 2k #wildswim. [06/24]

Leaving #Lacanau we moved south to #Navarrosse on the shores of Lac de #Sanguinet. We enjoyed a few exploratory walks & a 2k #wildswim parallel to the local beach. The lac was shallow, rarely over our chests, the water sometimes too shallow to swim properly. We even passed an exercising group walking in formation across the bay. We had a few #cycling jaunts, one to #Biscarrosse town in stifling heat, another to Biscarrosse Plage for a sea swim & some chill beach time. [06/24]

In her eternal search for a #WildSwim Nicky organised another walk along the Carding Mill Valley above Church Stretton. It was a beautifully clear day and a wonderfully pretty walk. After a quick detour to see a small waterfall we reached a small reservoir where Nicky and her mum proceeded to enjoy a cool dip. We had a huge pub lunch in the King’s Arms to complete our day’s activities, topped off with great #craftbeer. #Ludlow #Shropshire (04/24)

After a quick detour to see a small waterfall we reached a small reservoir where Nicky and her mum proceeded to enjoy a cool dip. We spent much of wet March #cycling, #trailrunning and ‘enjoying’ cold #Wildswim dips in local lakes when the weather and our motivation allowed. On another day out from #Chilworth we drove to Shawford and walked a pretty lane along Hockney Meadows to Compton Lock on the river Itchen. Nicky couldn’t resist a #WildSwim in the fast-flowing water, causing some bemusement to passing walkers. Later we saw other groups take to the chilly water ( 10degC ) with loud shrieks, perhaps inspired by Nicky’s example.
