I spent this evening watching the videos and looking at the handouts my local birding organization gave me in preparation for Friday, when two of their wildlife gardening consultants will be coming to review my yard. They'll help me make a plan for starting to get native plants in place instead of this giant lawn. Very excited!

I’m starting to cut down my mini garden meadows much earlier than usual. Everything is sooooo very dry. Most of the Yellow Rattle has set seed very nicely. I don’t own a scythe so it’s rake and mower on a high cut, and I’m leaving areas where the insects are still enjoying the flowers. I really have never known the garden get this dry. I’m watering a few containers but otherwise I’m afraid the plants will just have to cope 🫤 #NoMowSummer #WildlifeGarden #gardening
