  1. Drat. I checked at Cash Wise Foods and they’re totally out of black bear tonight.

  2. CW: Food - wild game

I shot another peacock the other day and left it hang until today. This was a young male. Last time was a female. Will see how different the meat tastes. Last time I did the wings, thighs and legs as confit - a bit too strong. This time a cacciatore. The breast go into the freezer and will do fricassee again as that was amazing last time.

  3. That kind of a day when supper is like a Choose Your Own Adventure. Luckily, I enjoy an adventure and cooking unknown meat without a recipe. (What could it be?!?!)

  4. I’m making caribou stew for supper. Caribou is hard to come by, but every now and then, the Toronto Inuit Association thinks of me and brings me country food. I am so thankful for this, for the northern hunters, and for the tuktuit, of course. Nakurmiik! #Inuit #Caribou #CountryFood #TraditionalFood #Indigenous #IndigenousCuisine #Inuit #Caribou #WildGame

  5. The pheasant struts across the field
    Head bobbing up and down
His feathers glimmer in the sun
    Each plume a golden crown

    He walks with carefree ease
    Through every furrow wide
    Gazing o'er the meadow green
    Each step a measured stride

For he is the king, in these free lands
Around here, we see him a lot
He's the pheasant, walking across the field
We just hope he won't get shot
