Awhile ago, I announced a plan to convert Pandora's Tale Wiki from MediaWiki to git. The main reasons are
1) In an era of increasing censorship, a wiki about queerness and fighting fascism should be available in a format that is easy to edit offline.
2) I think it will be easier to maintain.

Today, I have taken the first public step in that process. You can see a git-ified version of the wiki here:

Hosting is provided by @[email protected] : That's right, a Helper is hosting the wiki about Helpers. She might, or might not, provide our permanent home.

Two things need to happen before I can declare this version of PTW the "main" one. First, I need to verify that this format is actually easier to maintain. That means waiting for @[email protected] to release a new chapter so I can see how hard it is to update.

Second, (almost?) every page currently has formatting errors due to the conversion. I need to fix all of them.

Until I complete both of those steps, the MediaWiki version will remain at https://pandorastale.wiki .

I have a question for intersex fediversians.

On Rainverse Wiki, we have a glossary of queer terminology that is used in Rainverse canon.

As a small wiki focused on a work of fiction, we cannot possibly hope to give full detailed descriptions of every queer term. Instead, we provide a short description and an external link to somewhere describing it in more detail. The "somewhere" is usually an article on another wiki.

The question is, where should we link readers to learn more about intersex-ness?

Currently, our link points to the Intersex article on Nonbinary Wiki

Today we completed a goal we've had for a long time.

The wiki now has clear delineations between canon information sourced directly from the comic, and "semi-canon" information sourced from @[email protected] social media.

All references to social media are accompanied by an archive link. Hence, social media posts which can't be archived (such as Discord messages) are not referenced on the wiki at all.

I waffled back and forth about whether the alt text should be considered fully canon or only semi-canon. I decided to count it as semi-canon because
a)Currently the alt text is only visible on the fediverse, not the actual comic site.
b)For Chapters 1-5, the alt text is based on drafts of the script, and the text differs in a few places from what's in the comic.

Eight years ago today, our former admin Miiohau founded Rain Wiki on Fandom. One year ago, the wiki was mostly abandoned, as Fandom's evil behaviour had pushed the community away.

In March of this year, @AwesomeGamer forked Rain Wiki onto @[email protected]. The title was changed to Rainverse Wiki and expanded to cover My Impossible Soulmate, and we moved to the domain https://rainverse.wiki, thanks to @[email protected]. In the past four months, our small team revitalized the wiki with more than 10,000 edits and more than 1,000 new content articles. We now have articles with transcripts for every page of both Rain and and My Impossible Soulmate, thanks to @[email protected].

Je suis pas très fan de l'arrivée de #Threads sur le Fediverse, surtout quand on voit le passif de géants du numérique dans ce genre de manœuvre (#Google avec #XMPP notamment).

Mais par contre, je pense que l'instance #WikisWorld ne devrait pas bloquer Threads : cela permettrait aux comptes présents ici (notamment @Wikimedia_Fr et @wikipedia_fr) d'être visibles sur Threads, sans devoir créer un compte là-bas et gonfler leurs chiffres.

Major update!

I have manually checked that ALL pages on the Miraheze version of PTW have the correct formatting, and that NONE of them are missing content that was on Fandom. I can now safely say that the Miraheze version of Pandora's Tale Wiki is at least as good in every way as the Fandom version was.
