In einem neuen Video wirft Did You Know Gaming einen Blick darauf, wie Motion-Control-Gaming bereits vor der Wii existierte – über eine vergessene Plattform ehemaliger Nintendo-Ingenieure, die Ideen wie Wii-Sports-ähnliches Gameplay und Fitness-Zubehör Jahre zuvor vorwegnahmen.
Bereits 1999 begann die Shinsedai Company, ihre XaviX-Chip-Technologie an Unternehmen zu lizenzieren, um Plug-and-Play-TV-Spiele mit Motion-Control-Funktion zu entwickeln. An dem XaviX-Projekt arbeiteten mehrere Entwickler, die zuvor bei Nintendo tätig gewesen waren, sich jedoch selbstständig gemacht hatten, um die Möglichkeiten von Spielen zu erweitern. Die verschiedenen motion-gesteuerten Titel, die durch Partnerschaften mit Drittanbietern entstanden, verkauften sich recht erfolgreich.
Später wollte Shinsedai die Motion-Control-Spiele auch außerhalb Japans vermarkten, was zur Veröffentlichung des XaviXPORT führte. Mit dieser Konsole konnten Spieler verschiedene Cartridges einstecken, um mehrere Motion-Control-Spiele zu spielen. Zwei Jahre später veröffentlichte Nintendo die Wii, die ebenfalls Motion Controls bot – mit einem Startaufgebot an Spielen, das dem XaviX-Angebot stark ähnelte.
Shinsedai reichte später Klage gegen Nintendo ein. Das Unternehmen behauptete, Nintendo habe die XaviX-Titel gesehen und einige der Entwickler des Projekts kannten, was die Entstehung der Wii direkt beeinflusst habe. Zudem wurde behauptet, dass Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort und Wii Play Patente von XaviX für motion-gesteuerte Spiele verletzten.
2015 wurde die Klage von Shinsedai gegen Nintendo auf gegenseitig vereinbarten, vertraulichen Bedingungen fallen gelassen. Bis heute ist unklar, ob Shinsedai eine Zahlung von Nintendo erhielt oder wie umfangreich die Vereinbarung tatsächlich war.

➡️ WiiCTA Digital's Bowling Ball was an accessory for the Wii to be used for bowling games such as Wii Sports, Brunswick Pro Bowling or Ten Pin Alley.
To use it, you needed to open up the ball and place your wii-mote inside. Once the remote is set inside, plug the three holes with your fingers, as you would a bowling ball.
Came with an adjustable strap for safety reasons
