Help a sister out - does anyone have wig shop recommendations?
I don't want to use Amazon, and while I know that paying for a quality wig will be costly I can't stomach dropping $500+ on something that I know I won't be using daily for a bit

There's a guy over the way that reminds me of "syrupy Sid", a guy that lived down from my Mum & Dad who was an ex-fireman with what I always thought were a selection of wigs on his head as on certain days he just wore a baseball cap and no hair could be seen at all below that cap line so I used to imagine this was wig-rest or wig wash day.
Incredibly kitsch house and garden that Syrupy had but with a succession of super model-esque girlfriends.

Me & the lighting crew were the last ones to clock out. I was always the last crew to leave sets because I was also the locations manager. We goofed around with wigs & accessories props from my costumes tickle trunk. I provided several props for the production filming from my own personal collections.

I have a friend who is looking to cut her hair and donate it to one of those wig-making charities.
We've heard that Locks or Love is not the good one to donate to, since they sell the wigs commercially at full price and lie about it.
[Edit: Someone pointed out below, this is probably a misconception: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/donated-hair/]Someone recommended Wigs for Kids, but I don't know anything about that.
Does anybody have any recommendations?
