Not long ago, someone here recommended Anna Funders #Wifedom about the life of #GeorgeOrwell ‘s first wife, Eileen Blair (née O'Shaughnessy). I can’t remember who it was…but it’s an absolutely riveting good read! I’ve just finished it.
It brings alive someone who, had she not existed, would mean that Orwell would have died even earlier than he did. She played such a crucial role in supporting, inspiring and editing him. She was so strong, clever and witty - and he was complete $hit to her.
