Not aiming to improve the public good. Not lofty ideals. Not even good governance requiring compromise.

Read it again. #BBCNews says the goal of public life in democracy is about ability to communicate.

Yes, a needed skill. But if communication is what it "is all about", we get division.

No wonder politics and society are in such an awful, divided state.

Top tier news source, #BBCNews , writes a whole piece focused on #Widdecombe 's provocateur style ...as if that is the best trait a politician.

Her words "...would splash a listener in the face and demand a reaction.". Umm, that's not a good thing.

Earlier today I read that Ann #Widdecombe had died, but it seems it was a murder.

Devon and Cornwall Police, said a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder .
There is "no evidence at this time" to suggest this is a politically-motivated crime.
