Samsung: “The future isn’t smart. It’s sponsored.”
Samsung fridges now come with built-in ads. Progress, innovation… or just more enshittification?
Fridge: “You’re out of milk.”
Samsung: “Also, here’s an ad for milk.”

I use my Garmin in reach mini mostly for navigating when there's no cell coverage, marking tracks that I've hiked, and for possible emergency SOS use in the wilderness.
There are many much better apps out there that will do the first two of these things using downloaded, off-line maps. And the new iPhones apparently have or will soon have satellite SOS function. Probably gonna sell my mini and ditch Garmin for good, especially if they are pulling this bullshit.

Oh FFS I was just about to switch to them to get off Gmail. Tuta seems the next obvious choice, but they're a lot more limited in what they offer if I recall from researching options six months ago.

I love wildlife streams like https://www.youtube.com/@instituteforwildlifestudie2630/streams, but I have sworn them off permanently now, due to memory-issues.
At least THIS time I didn't actually call my landlord and start an investigation into what the chittering noise I couldn't track down was before remembering I'd left a tab open with a bird's nest on it for weeks, and they'd hatched, and now it sounds like they're in the walls, and I'm over here having a Poe-worthy breakdown...

I can complain that the trains in the US are too slow and infrequent.
But I can't complain about the view.

- Let me quickly automate this workstation backup solution (bitwarden + SSH keys really)
- Hmm, this version of bitwarden cli does not work with my version of node, ok let's upgrade that.
- Huh, my version of bitwarden cli has problem with `null` URLs in the vault... -

Changed all the permalinks in the changelogs yesterday. So all past references made in the #FreeBSD ports commits are useless now. #whycantwehavenicethings #permalink -

#Mozilla continues to piss me off with #Firefox changes.
I don't know when exactly it happened, but some recent update removed *another* feature depended on by "advanced" users. The interface for viewing and deleting individual cookies by domain has disappeared from the settings UI where it has been for many years.
Mozilla has a bad habit of doing this. I'm not sure if they're trying to dumb it down or what, but they keep removing essential functionality.
