It's been a long time coming, but here's David's video of the 2024 #WHPVA championships, complete with his usual excellent commentary. In which lots of people go very fast, and he fails to keep things rubber-side down.

There are bits of the 3-hour race that I've watched literally dozens of times in the finish-line camera footage, trying to spot velomobiles with dodgy timing tags. Weird to see them from the reverse angle (to say nothing of in colour).

Results for those playing along at home...

The 360° potatovision footage isn't the greatest at showing the machines, but it captures the atmosphere of the event perfectly, with people cheering each other on, relaxing in the sun and occasionally running around with flags and computer-touching.

Still time to register for the #BHPC racing at Rhyl this weekend. I've just created the race files: Back to less than 100 riders, the regular BHPC logo and no NatCode field in the sign-on sheet.

Looks like we might get some dry weather. Crosswinds on Prostate Corner are of course guaranteed.

(Anyone who removed their regular BHPC timing tags to make room for the #whpvc2024 ones and who hasn't asked for new ones at registration, please let me know and I'll write some new ones.)

Since we're all doing the keeping track of the #octopus #freeelectricity thing: I used 31p's worth, mainly by washing the remaining #whpvc2024 hazmat. Underwhelming, I know.

Advance party of organizers now camped (in a howling gale) at #Betteshanger. All sorts of fun communication issues with the venue staff. Looks like we're going to be very limited in access to showers after 5pm, so I urge everyone to try to use them during the day if possible, or elsewhere if you're staying off-site.

Tomorrow we discover if the generator they're providing for our timing equipment actually works...

In other news, still a couple more days before the close of registrations for the #WHPVA championships. Anyone over the age of 12 on anything human-powered can take part. Unfortunately, the camping pitches have now sold out, and late registrations aren't guaranteed a T-shirt (the order has now gone to the printers).

We currently have 129 registered riders, which makes this a bigger event than when the #BHPC last hosted it in 2018. I've cleaned the chain on the Red Baron, and I'm starting to look at weather forecasts...
