  1. CW: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" movie spoilers

I still really like the Roger Rabbit movie. (And it's nice that the rights belong to the original author again)

Like, in general, it's a great movie. One of the things that I really love is the scene in which it's revealed that, despite all his painful memories and grudge against Toons, Eddie Valiant still kept his Toon revolver and bullets.

It's a really nice emotional thing AND it's also just really fun to have a human interact with Toon items like that.

Damn, I'd love to play in a movie with Toons. 😊

Great movie, I gotta rewatch it again.

  6. “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” would do on to win Oscar Awards for Best: Film Editing, Sound Effects Editing, Visual Effects AND director Richard WIlliams won a special achievement award for the film

  7. Director Richard Williams set out to break multiple major rules of animation-live action filmmaking: he used camera angles that weren’t static, he used heavy, moving shadows AND he made sure there was A LOT of interaction between live action & animated actors

  8. Probably has never been better villain monologuing than that freeway rant by Judge Doom.

  9. I can’t imagine how mind blowing it must have been to see Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny AND a human actor all in the same scene on the big screen

  10. This scene where Valiant enters toon town is the most anti-noir scene ever filmed. Yet it maintains the atmosphere that anything could happen at any time, unrestrained by the laws of physics or biology. So it is kind of noir.

  11. Warner Bros. wanted their characters to look like their 80s era merchandise so the ”Who Framed Roger Rabbit” crew sent them footage using the contemporary design style and then used 1940s era designs in the actual film

  12. There have been a couple of scenes where we learn the rules that govern toon behavior. We need to know this to understand how Doom tries to find Roger.

  15. @MatthewTitus88 @rsmon77 Due to her design not being finalized at the time, Bob Hoskins was told to imagine Jessica Rabbit during their scenes. Apparently, the image in his head was nowhere nearly as sexy as the final product!

  16. Due to the complicated legal mumbo jumbo of today’s media, the high production cost (around $70 million in 1980s money) and the long time it took to make the film (about 8yrs), something like “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” (1988) is unlikely to be made again

  17. On the picture frame, get the reference to the song "Flat Foot Floogie (with a Floy Floy)"?

  18. Day 14 of #Arttrober is Jessica Rabbit from the film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?".

My memories of the film are a little murky, but I remember it fairly fondly. Certainly there have been very few films quite like it. Or maybe, with the prevalence of CGI, every film is now like it, in an odd kind of way.

I might have gone a little too far trying to make Jessica sparkle.

  19. Mae Questel (1908 – 1998) was an American actress best known for providing the voices for Betty Boop and Olive Oyl. She was born to an Orthodox Jewish family that actively discouraged her from a career in show business. Nevertheless at the age of 17 she set out to follkw that carreer - first performing in vaudeville as an impersonator. she did impressions of Fanny Brice, Marlene Dietrich, Mae West, Maurice Chevalier and others. Eventually she was seen by animator Max Fleischer, who was looking for an actress to provide the voice for his Betty Boop character. Many years later she reprised her role as Betty Boop in the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit
She appeared as an actress in several films including A Majority of One, Funny Girl, and Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. She also appeared in. any commercials, most famously as Aunt Bluebell in the Scott Towel ads.

    I kid.

RIP, #PaulRubens. You were the best. If you have a chance to listen to his voice test for #WhoFramedRogerRabbit, take a listen and understand the different take he had on that character.
