and am wondering if there was a deliberate attempt by the USA oligarchic state to have their Hollywood proxies co-opt and sanitize the literal monster hit of a movie, since it was smashing box offices across the globe.

@dwf there's definitely a lot less enthusiasm (among us white/ cis/het/ males) when it comes to acknowledging our own actions, making it our genuine priority to stop causing/ participating in causing harm, and to really work on repairing painful impact we've caused! Speaking for myself of course.
