While walking toward the area east of Spring Lake toward the Abbott Brook and Watson Woods Trails I heard and saw multiple calls from White-throated Sparrow. I stopped and waited a few minutes. Some pics from a quick bike ride between Willow Pond and Grant Park in Hewlett, NY, about 1/4 mile from each other. The juvie Bald Eagle actually made its appearance at Willow, then circled over Grant. The egret at Willow looked up when the eagle did its fairly close flyover, but it was surprising that the ducks and geese didn't panic.

My phone app has picked up the sounds of the white throated sparrow (Zonotrichia albicollis) for a couple of days. This is the first that I've actually photographed.
"Crisp facial markings make the White-throated Sparrow an attractive bird as well as a hopping, flying anatomy lesson. There’s the black eye stripe, the white crown and supercilium, the yellow lores, the white throat bordered by a black whisker, or malar stripe. They’re also a great entrée into the world of birdsong, with their pretty, wavering whistle of Oh-sweet-Canada. These forest sparrows breed mostly across Canada, but they’re familiar winter birds across most of eastern and southern North America and California." - allaboutbirds.org

This gorgeous little bird, along with three juveniles, were foraging by the side of the trail and occasionally scurrying for cover when joggers went by. A parent and three children, I assume?
I have been yearning for a good photo of an adult since my last one waaaay back in April 2020 when I was just a tiny baby birder., and I haven't seen them since Thanksgiving last year! I knew it was only a matter of time and vigilance
