  2. A VIRTUAL TOUR OF SCOTLAND

We take the ferry to the enchanting island of Eriskay. This is the view north that greets us, of Coilleag a'Phrionnsa or the Prince's Beach, where Bonnie Prince Charlie first landed in 1745. The island is also known as final resting place of the SS Politician and its cargo of whisky in 1941. More pics and info undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/eri

  3. There is a fleeting glimpse of the pub/restaurant Am Politician in the video.

So named as Eriskay is the island that the SS Politician ran aground on in 1941, with its precious cargo of whisky. This real event led to the fictionalised account in the famous book and film Whisky Galore (1949). The book is a great read and the film is very entertaining
