A panel discussion organised by the “What the Fuck?!” Alliance Berlin with Lina Dahm and Annika Brockschmidt:
Religious. Anti-feminist. Far-right.
Christian fundamentalism and the far right in the USA and GermanyChristian fundamentalist movements are gaining influence worldwide. They openly advocate anti-democratic positions, attack feminist achievements and oppose queer rights. Transnationally, they are closely networked, strategically organised and well-funded. Their alliance with right-wing populist and far-right actors is no coincidence:
It is politically deliberate and manifests itself in joint campaigns, personal connections and similar rhetoric.
Together with experts Lina Dahm and Annika Brockschmidt, we aim to understand how Christian fundamentalism and the far right are linked.
What connections exist between the US and Germany? What impact do the international networks of anti-abortion activists have on democracy and society? And which counterstrategies are effective?
We at the ‘What-the-Fuck?!’ alliance have been protesting for years against the so-called ‘March for Life’ in Berlin, where Christian fundamentalists, ultra-conservative church representatives and the far right demonstrate together against the right to abortion.
Their core demand: a total ban on abortion, meaning the compulsion to carry a pregnancy to term.
Lina Dahm is a freelance journalist and an expert on anti-feminist movements in German-speaking countries.
Annika Brockschmidt is a journalist, author, podcaster and an expert on the Christian right in the US.

Sie vertreten offen antidemokratische Positionen, greifen feministische Errungenschaften an und bekämpfen queere Rechte. Transnational sind sie eng vernetzt, strategisch organisiert und finanziell gut ausgestattet. Die Allianz mit rechtspopulistischen und extrem rechten Akteur*innen ist dabei kein Zufall:
Sie ist politisch gewollt und zeigt sich in gemeinsamen Kampagnen, personellen Verbindungen und einer ähnlichen Rhetorik.
Mit den Expert*innen Lina Dahm und Annika Brockschmidt wollen wir verstehen, wie christlicher Fundamentalismus und die extreme Rechte zusammenhängen.
Welche Verbindungen bestehen zwischen den USA und Deutschland? Welche Auswirkungen haben die internationalen Netzwerke der Abtreibungsgegner*innen auf Demokratie und Gesellschaft? Und welche Gegenstrategien funktionieren?
Wir vom „What-the-Fuck?!“-Bündnis protestieren seit Jahren gegen den sogenannten „Marsch für das Leben" in Berlin, wo christliche Fundamentalist*innen, erzkonservative Kirchenvertreter*innen und extreme Rechte gemeinsam gegen das Recht auf Abtreibung demonstrieren.
Ihre Kern-Forderung: ein absolutes Abtreibungsverbot, also den Zwang eine Schwangerschaft auszutragen.
Lina Dahm ist freie Journalistin und Expertin für antifeministische Bewegungen im deutschsprachigen Raum.
Annika Brockschmidt ist Journalistin, Autorin, Podcasterin und Expertin für die christliche Rechte in den USA.
