Eurovision is about fun.
It's about individuality.

That makes it self-evident that you don't push state agendas on it.
It's supposed to be a display of individual opinions and who they favor.

That's why it contradicts the contests spirit when Israel pays people or at least makes it a thing of patriotism and national duty to vote for them.

While there may not be an explicit prohibition of such behavior it never the less contradicts the free play of opinions.
Most European nations wouldn't even feel the need to push national agendas at this event.

That's the reason why things feel off about Eurovision these days.

but perhaps it's also a sign that Europe is neglecting the collective narrative...

whatever way Eurovision is dead because the basic agreement no longer exists
