Some musings on what I like in #ttrpg :
I do like it when player characters get more powerful and competent over time. But the power curve of #DnD and its derivatives is too steep for me - I like it when a campaign has room to breathe.
Thus, some of my favorite RPGs have a middle ground of slow but steady improvement - where the players can pick some minor improvements after each session or two which become impressive over time. #GURPS and #WFRP are some good examples of this style of play - the characters can become very powerful over the course of a long campaign without actually developing into the equivalent of superheroes.
What is your preference when it comes to the power curve in RPGs? -
Let me see...
We're also currently playing Lancer, which is fun but slow progressing.
Previously we played the Cosmere RPG, because a few of my friends seem to buy everything by Brandon Sanderson.
We played Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (4e). I was a priest of law in a party of vagabonds.
I ran Scum and Villainy (Blades in the Dark but sci-fi). I really liked running that system; I cribbed half the mission ideas from one Iain M Banks book.

In the penultimate session of our #TheEnemyWithin #WFRP4E campaign our heroes risk the dangers of the corrupted Caves of Chaos in search of Sigmar's lost hammer Ghal Maraz:

Unser Speedrun auf eine Skaven-Festung in #WFRP - inklusive großen Kampf auf einer Kanone.
-
Last session we fought a bunch of Skaven on top of a giant cannon after escaping from a cloud of warpstone fumes.
This session we defended an airship from a rocket barrage by shooting down the rockets with pistols.
#WFRP , never change.

Karak Norn's cannon foundries or Cothique's scheming nobility? Cubicle 7 gives WFRP players 2 new 96-page sourcebooks. One's full of honest Dwarven grudges, underground combat and a guide to drinking establishments in Karak Norn. The other's full of Elves. #WFRP #TTRPG https://l.d20.ninja/r6cdCe

One thing about this setting is that it must clearly have groats. I think #wfrp missed a trick with the lack of coinage between penny and shilling.

Cubicle 7's Thirst of Three sends your party into the Great Forest to find a missing contact in a remote village where isolation breeds superstition and something worse. Ancient traditions, wary locals, horrors in the trees. Very County Wicklow, 1986. #WFRP #TheOldWorld #Warhammer #grimdark http://l.d20.ninja/hcvYEN

We unbox the "Warhammer: The Old World Roleplaying Game Starter Set" from Cubicle 7, which offers players a quick and easy way to jump into the grimdark past of the Empire. https://ttrpgfans.com/warhammer-the-old-world-roleplaying-game-starter-set/ #warhammer #warhammerfantasy #WFRP #warhammerfantasyroleplay #Cubicle7 #ttrpg

It was not, in fact, Skaven ninjas. At least, not directly.
Also, the other party members owe me beer for the next two weeks because they gave the perps a chance to get away despite my objections.

I fear that in our next #WFRP session, we will be up again some Skaven ninjas.

Giving it some thought, even if #Warhammer is the better choice as a lifestyle game in terms of investment and #wargaming in general. I was never a fan of playing at the local club. Not my scene. I also don't like the lore behind #AoS nor #40k. I have always been a core fan of #wfb though, also the lore and rpg rules and campaigns for #WFRP 2e/4e (super excited for 5e). But mechanically #TOW kinda sucks. Mechanically, #Necromunda is my jam, but the setting sucks, and no players...
...what, do.

Mon: Italian evening class
Tue: Introductory conference for @littleworld
Sun: Playing in #WFRP The Enemy Within (currently at "The Horned Rat") -
Sigmar help us. I like #TheEnemyWithin, in my opinion one of the greatest #TTRPG campaigns available at the time! #Warhammer #FRP 2e is the best variant so far. 4e is far too fiddly. I'm not interested in the new 5e, especially since it's supposed to be directly linked to the rule-heavy 4e. #WFRP
