Just posted the following on #nextdoor Very curious about the responses if there are any.
"Why doesn't Highway Unit 1 enforce the 50mph speed limit on the West Side Highway? There are so many collisions there caused by drivers obviously going way more than 50mph. So many sirens. So much cost. I would assume all that expense raises car insurance rates. People are always complaining about their high car insurance rates. Makes no sense."

Getting confused now. Planted more #daffodils on the #WestSideHighway (aka #HenryHutchinsonHighway, #NYS9 ) in Manhattan, NYC last fall and now they're up with the one's I planted two falls ago. Now I know where the gaps are and will work my way north, this fall.
I think last fall's bulbs were from the organization Partnership for Parks. I lugged a 50lb bag home from #UnionSquare on the #1 train. Will be doing that again this fall if they do the bulb giveaway again.

Speed gunned the #WestSideHighway at 104 from #CherryWalk at 10:15am. Most cars doing 58. A few over 60 and one at 75. If the goal of the 50 mph #speedlimit is 60 then fine . If it 50, the speed limit must be reduced to 40. To a driver, 50 means it's ok to do 55.

Speeding is rampant on the HHP. A car flipped off the HHP last week onto the Cherry Walk greenway because of speeding. #Daffodils planted as bulbs late last fall are up on #WestSideHighway Southbound at 100th and along #CherryWalk at 100th. Distinctly, planted them last fall along the highway because within a few years that outer lane will become a #bikenyc lane. Each year I will extend the planting. Good rich soil. Bicyclists move slow enough to appreciate it.

@twopirc Yes. Demolish the #WestSideHighway or put it underground. Don't want to hear it and don't want it obstructing access to the #HudsonRiver. Same for #HarlemRiverDrive.
