"Come along to our September Repair Café!

Book your spot and bring along one item for repair or maintenance:
- Small electrical appliances
- Welding repair
- Gardening tools for sharpening
- Jewellery
- or that general item you've been meaning to have repaired.

Our skilled volunteers will be here to assist you with fixes such as electrical faults, broken clasps, union/wedding ring repair, welding or general fix-up repairs.

Audience: Open to all
Accessibility: Public transport, Mobility, Whānau friendly, Hearing and Vision accessible.
Maximum Capacity: 50
Cost: Free entry (Koha warmly welcomed) - All #koha goes straight back to celebrate our community of generous volunteers.

We are easily accessible by public and active transport with plenty of bike parking. We have limited parking for vehicles including an accessibility car parking space."

" #VisibleMending is an awesome way to care for your clothes, keep materials out of landfills, and make some art.

Each rip, tear, and stain is an opportunity for creation and self expression!

Every month our multidisciplinary queen Aisha will be teaching a different visible mending technique. In September, we are learning Sashiko! This Japanese reinforcement technique was born out of necessity, to extend the lifetime of garments, and strengthen their durability. It's great for patching holes or weak points in clothing.

Please bring your own item to mend! We have a limited amount of extra items from the Tip Shop Wellington that can be claimed for fixing and learning on.

A portion of all Generous tier tickets goes towards free monthly #MicroMill workshops for community organisations like the Wellington Women’s House."

The Kākano Seed Libraries aim to encourage beginners into backyard gardening through the supply of small quantities of free seeds.

Seed saving and seed sharing are important practices that encourage biodiversity and community self-sufficiency. Gardening is a great way to improve your physical and mental well-being, and growing from seed can be a rewarding and fun process that the whole whānau can enjoy.

How does it work?

- Help yourself to a packet of seeds
- Sow your seeds at home. Basic planting instructions are provided on packets. Don’t forget to label your planting with name and date.
- Enjoy your harvest!
- Save some seeds from your harvest to donate back to the seed library. We gratefully accept donations of any other excess seeds you have, provided they meet the below requirements.

How do I donate seeds?

Bring your surplus seeds to Ngā Puna Waiora Newtown Library or Korimako Cummings Park Library for donation to the Kākano seed libraries.

We accept donations of seeds in any quantity that meet the following requirements:

- Viable
- Non-pest/weed
- Clearly labelled with: name/variety, date collected, source/provenance (i.e. commercial or grown in Karori etc)

Please note all donations will be repackaged and relabelled."

"Why buy and store tools when we can share!

#ToolLibraries work just like any other library. You become a member and then you can borrow tools. Tools are expensive, and there are many privately owned tools in our community that only get used once in a while. But, if we collectively own and share tools we can save money and the planet while building community. How awesome is that?

The team behind #NTL are all volunteers. We’re from lots of different backgrounds, but share the same passion to build community, and to share skills and resources.

#NewtownToolLibrary is a lending library for tools of all sorts. We have a growing collection of second hand and new tools (donations welcome) available for lending to members. The Tool Library is a project of the Newtown #CommunityCentre, is run by volunteers and is located in neat little nook at 9 Constable Street, Newtown!

Membership is $30 for a year or $20 for 6 months, or;

If you are a #WellingtonTimebank member, you can pay with 2-timecredits.

Our aim is to keep the Tool Library as accessible as possible while still having a small income to cover tool maintenance, repairs and new tools.

Once you are member, there are no charges to borrow tools."

I love where I live! #WellingtonNZ has an amazing range of #MountainBiking trails and bike parks and the best best sights. The 3 day #MTB festival this weekend was such an amazing celebration.

Today we continued our Shackleton pilgrimage by visiting the graves of Harry 'Chippy' McNish - with its 'Mrs Chippy' statue - and (after some searching) that of Thomas Orde-Lees.
