The only way to increase the visibility of a post is to #Boost by hitting the Boost button. I've seen a lot of new people following me without a profile picture or a description. That is okay! However writing a bit about yourself in your bio and at least choosing a profile picture will make people more interested in your account, and help you find people of similar interest.
