An engineers 2025 cycling wrapped… charts and maps, of course! 😅🤓

8.800 km outside, Greece for the Hellenic Mountain Race, Kyrgyzstan for the Silk Road Mountain Race and in late Autum, Leuven for the Flanders Legacy Gravel Race.

12.041 km overall, 894.5 hours including hiking and strength and conditioning workouts.

Here’s to a hopefully great training and cycling (and everything else) year 2026!

Ponderings for 2026: New super long bikepacking event, Via Race Chapter III registration started, interesting route into and through Norway, longing for a long smooth pure gravel event (do you know such?) and more events I'd already like to do in 2026. Namely Taurus Mountain Race, AlpsDivide Ultra and Badlands (whats not possible / feasible... 🙈😅)

Finished the inaugural edition of "El Piri". A climbing intense 800ish km long and 20.000 m climbing bikepacking event in some of the most remote and wild parts of the Catalan Pyrenees. With "every" kind of surface and gradients so steep your granny gears weep up and your brakes down!

It's May and not only the trees but also the bikepacking events start in full force in the northern hemisphere.

This morning, 126 riders started into the 3rd edition of the #MittelgebirgeClassique. A nice (and climbing heavy) road ultra challenge over 1061 km across the Palatinate and Black Forest and the Vosges.
