I took some pics of some of the flowering shrubs we have in our yard here at our new place in Eureka, CA. The bushes are so old they're literally the size of trees now—they’ve been cleared out underneath and you can walk under them.

This one is from the weigela. We also have two camellias, so we’re blessed wiht a lot of blooms!

I think these bushes are going to render some awesome reference pics for some greeting cards.

Weigela is such an unobtrusive shrub most of the year, but when it flowers, wow! And when I'm doing something else in the yard and notice that the sun has kindly spotlighted a little beauty for me, I stop what I'm doing and take pictures.

I just discovered this splendid hashtag a few moments ago, and I feel an instant urge to dip my toes into the stream.

I think this species is "W. florida" -- meaning "flowery" -- as it most surely is this morning.
