The BitchX is Back!

No, not the Elton John song from the seventies - The #IRC client (considered the most popular before #Irssi and #weechat) back in the late 90's on #DALnet and into the 2000's.

But there's a twist, this is an entirely revamped beast, kinda like finding an old Model A Ford that's so rusted out even the axles are seized up and the doors are paper thin with shattered windows, and plenty of bullet holes in the body...

... and then restoring it back to factory showroom floor condition. Except for the engine - a rusted hunk of metal that was replaced with a brand new Chevy 454 Big Block V8; something really contemporary that you might not expect. I'll leave you to discover what that is by visiting the link where the maintainer explains everything :)

And remember, you too can once again be Too Lame to run BitchX!

Keine Ahnung, wer von beiden dafür verantwortlich ist, aber immer wird mein Name benutzt, mit dem ich in meinem PC angemeldet bin. Alleine das ist eine FRECHHEIT! Mit welchem Benutzername ich auf meinem lokalen Computern arbeite, geht euch einen SCHEIßDRECK an 🤬

Da ich vor Jahren schon mal registriert war und nicht bemerkt habe, dass mein PC-Login missbraucht wurde, erhalte ich nun permanent Fehlermeldungen über einen unzulässigen Anmeldevorgang. Ja, weil da Daten in unzulässiger Weise abgegriffen wurden, die NICHTS, aber so was von überhaupt nichts, auf fremden Servern zu suchen haben!

Dies als "default" zu setzen ist ein Unding. Nein, ich habe es nicht geschafft, diese Unsitte abzustellen. Und jetzt ist es mir auch egal. Verzichte ich eben auf meine Beteiligung auf #irc Kanälen.

Mannomann bin ich wütend 😱

I made a simple wiki page on the #IndieWeb site today and then joined the #IRC web chat https://indieweb.org/discuss for a while. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, thank you! 🥰

I'm not that familiar with IRC, but I remember using a green ducky (logo) app on macOS maybe 10 years ago? I am now searching for an IRC client for Mac / Android. Will try WeeChat on Mac Goguma on Android later. What do you use?

Con un /trigger in #weechat è possibile rimpiazzare il nickname di un bot che fa relay tra #IRC #XMPP e #deltachat con i nickname delle persone stesse, per cui sembra quasi che tutti gli utenti stiano chattando dalla stessa locazione.

Gli utenti con la busta stanno scrivendo da deltachat, quelli con la lampadina da xmpp e quelli senza emoji sono su IRC.

At the end of the process, don't freak out (as me :) if everything looks empty; you'll have to "adopt" your repositories, which are stored on the filesystem but still not in your "possession".

It's just a matter of a single click per repo, and it's done in the webui.

I followed the official guide to set the instance up and this pretty good how-to migrate. Just don't copy/paste, not everything is accurate 100%.

Thinking about going the #znc and #weechat way once again.. Don't know how to explain it, but #IRC is missing its appeal, as seen from #xmpp . It is only more convenient to serve it there (integrated, one client for both protocols etc..), but KISS ain't always best.

Day 3

Well firstly, I messed up some of the tags for Day 2...

One slightly annoying thing that I forgot on my journey, usb... I could not plug in the phone into the car... it insisted on using some non existing network and would disconnect my network connections.

Anyway, Day 3 though... The only thing of note is, I ran into some issue with #peanutbutter ... I don't know exactly what happened... but I had to do a hard reset due to peanutbutter working but not taking inputs. For all the months I've used peanutbutter.. this is a first. I'm chaulking it up to a random fluke.

Speaking on battery... I'm spoiled. As a #pinephone refugee, I was used to paying extra attention to battery usage. Which is why I've always really dug #tui software (it has zero about how neat I find them as well /s). So, as I turned off suspend for my journey, I plumb ass forgor to turn it back on today... and ish was actually fine... like I used only like 50% of the battery with zero suspending. I didn't do a lot but my activities today:

GPS to a place around the corner
Spend most of the day chatting on #weechat #gomuks and mms/sms. I kept tabs on my M$ apps for work via web apps as well as made a few replies. That said, I missed zero calls (fuck scammers and promote #scambaiting ), I had zero sms or mms get stuck in the modem. We'll see how tomorrow goes with suspend on.
