韓国ではGoogleマップは使えないのか
今回、韓国旅行に行く前にベテラン勢からのアドバイスでよく言われたのが、「GoogleマップはあてにならないからNAVERマップを使ったほうがいい」ということでした。NAVERというのは韓国の大手インターネットサービス企業ですが、そのNAVERの日本支社で開発されたことから、LINEとの繋がりが深い企業としても知られているかもしれません。
もちろん日本国内でわざわざNAVERマップを使っているなんていう人はいないでしょうから、私も今回初めてインストールしてみました。しかし起動してみただけでもハングルまみれで、これは本当に使えるのだろうかという不安ばかりです。その後なんとか設定を日本語に切り替えてみても、アプリに埋め込まれている一部の表示が日本語に変わるだけで、韓国語で入力された店舗の情報や口コミなどが自動的に翻訳されるようなことはないようなので、使い慣れたGoogleマップと同じようなわけにはいかないようです。
しかし、韓国でのGoogleマップにも問題があって、公共交通以外のルート案内がまったく利用できないのです。これは韓国が今は休戦状態であってもあくまで北朝鮮との戦時下にあり、外国企業であるGoogleが得ることのできる情報が制限されている、ということによるものなのでしょうか。地図としては見ることができるのに歩くルートと所要時間などを教えてもらえないというのはよくわかりません。
とはいえ、車を運転するのでなければそれほど困ることもなく、また行きたいお店などはGoogleマップに「保存」していたことなどもあって、結局私はNAVERマップを開くことはなく、Googleマップだけでやり過ごしてしまいました。電車やバスの経路案内は全く問題なく正確に機能していたと思います。
ただ、店舗の営業時間などの情報は不正確で不十分でした。諸先輩方はこれを指して「あてにならない」と言っていたような節もありますが、これは利用者があまり多くないということが原因ではないでしょうか。間違っていたら自分たちで修正するということを繰り返していかないと、Googleマップの仕組み上、改善されていくことはないのではないかと思いますが、現地民はほとんど使わず、観光客はそれっきりなので修正する意欲もない、ということかもしれません。
ということで結論、観光客にはある程度使えます。

Trip.com
最近Agodaでのホテルの予約が取れていなかったとか、そもそもそこにホテルがなかったとか問題になっているようですが、インターネットの旅行サービスもたくさんあってどれを使えばいいのか迷ってしまいますね。私自身は今のところAgodaやその親会社のBooking.comでも特に問題は経験していないのでそのまま利用してみてもいいのですが、今回の韓国旅行ではたまたま安い航空券がTrip.comでのものだったので、初めてTrip.comを利用してみました。ただし、今回利用したのは航空券だけで、ホテルはBooking.comで予約しています。
Trip.comを利用してみて何が良かったかと言えば、iPhoneアプリの出来が良いということでしょうか。通知センターとの連携がしっかり作り込まれているようで、チェックイン時刻が近づくとダイナミックアイランドにチェックインカウンターの番号が表示されたり、通知センターにはフライト番号や発着時刻なども表示されて、いちいちアプリを開くことなく必要な情報にアクセスできるというのがとても便利でした。さらに必要な情報があればその表示をタップするだけでアプリが起動して、その情報を一発で表示できるので、しっかりユースケースを考えて作り込まれています。一番便利だったのは、預け入れ手荷物を受け取るためのターンテーブルの番号が表示されたことでしょうか。わざわざ表示パネルで探す手間を省いてスムーズに受け取ることができて、とても助かりました。
ウェブサイトのほうは他社と比べて特に優位性は実感できませんでしたが、アプリの出来一つでサービス全体の体験が大きく左右されるという実例ですが、これはApp Storeでしっかりフィードバックしてあげたほうがいいのでしょうね。他のサービスではここまでしっかりと作り込まれているものを見たことがありません。仁川空港でも関西空港でもTrip.comの広告はかなり目にしましたが、私ももっと早く使ってみれば良かったと思っています。次に旅行の手配をするときは、ホテルもTrip.comを利用してみて、どのような違いがあるのか体験してみたいです。

`canuseeme` - a single binary #webservice that will query the URI you give it and see if its reachable by randos/services on the internet. A bit like a #webproxy, but can exercise it programmatically, and not limited to HTTP/S ports.

Notebook LM
大規模言語モデル(LLM)やAIというとOpenAIのChatGPTが代表的なものになっていますが、いわゆるBig Tech各社もそれぞれしのぎを削っている分野であり、GoogleではGeminiというLLMの開発が進められています。そのGeminiを使ったアプリケーションの一つにNotebook LMというものがあり、昨年6月に日本語にも対応して提供が開始されています。
このNotebook LMというのは「AI を活用したリサーチや執筆する際のアシスタント」とされていますが、様々なテキストやPDF、URLなどを入力として与えると、それらの内容をまとめてくれたり、内容に関する質問に答えてくれるというものです。これは私がブログ記事を書く時にあちらこちらの記事を調べてまとめ上げる手順でも役に立ってくれそうです。
しかし、私が面白いと感じてご紹介したいと思ったのは、音声概要という機能です。
音声概要では、「2 人の AI ホストによる深掘り型の活発なディスカッション」という形式で、ソースの主要なトピックが要約されます。
ということで、与えた資料についての対話形式のポッドキャストを作成してくれるというもので、非常にそれっぽい会話のやり取りでそのまま公開しても良さそうなものです。ただ、今のところは英語でのみ作成可能というのが残念なところで、早く日本語でもできるようにならないものかと今から待ち遠しく思っています。
実際にどのようなものができるのかというと、試しに私のブログの前回の記事、「姫路城入城料 市民以外2.5倍に」のURLだけを与えて作ってみたものがこれです。

いかがでしょうか。語り口や間のとり方、抑揚の付け方などは極めて自然で、数年前までの合成音声と比べても隔世の感があります。途中何度か謎の番号を読み上げるところは機械っぽく、フィンガープリント的な感じでわざと入れているのかとも思えますが、それ以外はまったく不自然なところはありません。内容的にも私が記事に書いていないことにまで話題を膨らませていて、あの程度の記事で10分以上語ってしまうというのはむしろ私にはできないことです。この調子でブログ記事を書いてそれをポッドキャストにして配信したら面白いのではないかとも思いましたが、どうでしょうか。Notebook LMの無料版では1日に作成できる音声概要は3つまでとなっており、過去の記事をポッドキャストにしていくというのは難しそうですが、これから先のもので試してみるというのはいいかもしれません。とはいえ、そんなに需要があるとはそもそも思っていませんが、やはり日本語でないとダメでしょうね。

I am a #CitizenScientist at heart, and it bothers me not that #technology is prevalent and powerful (high speed, high storage capacity), but that such improvement of our technology is gatekept behind massive #paywalls.
(TL;DR: the cost of a portable genome sequencer and also data storage makes it unattainable to collaborate as a citizen scientist, and that makes me big mad 😡!! I know we can do something about it.)
I dream of an internet #infrastructure that would enable me, and others, to #democratize data, storage space, and processing power. Such would bolster research and study across many fields of knowledge.
Allow me to set the scene.
- A #PublicCommons #CommunityMesh #MeshNetwork interlinks public and private schools, weather broadcast stations, public government buildings, medical facilities, public transit centers, large housing complexes, and observation towers in public parks for civil and public academic use. Low-power Radio Wide Area Networks (#LoRaWAN) might prove useful here for environmental sensors.
- #FreedomBox or no-assembly-required #SelfHosting #cloudlet solutions bring #FaultTolerance to the hands of #WebService architects.
- #NetworkAttachedStorage (#NAS) equips locations connected to the network with an opportunity to share _some_ data storage capacity as a cache for the functions of the greater network. (In my opinion, altruistic features should be opt-out conditions.) Such might confer a cache of operable @wikifunctions representations.
- #UniformResourceName (#URN) resolvers (e.g., such as for #DOI, #ARC, #ISBN, #IPFS) give us what we need to collaborate as communities to organize our #DataSets and to distribute amongst our community the load of resolving names of data to their resources.

You take #measurements, name them and fill in whatever #metadata about them you can. When you submit your dataset to the network, the publishers of every #initiative of which you are part are notified so that others can search for it through them via the metadata you ascribed to the dataset. When others search for and find your dataset, they, too, can process it according the functions within the network.
By this our internet would become a virtual meta-machine; this could assist in the symbiotization of #civilian #academy and #inventive #altruism.

I am a #CitizenScientist at heart, and it bothers me not that #technology is prevalent and powerful (high speed, high storage capacity), but that such improvement of our technology is gatekept behind massive #paywalls.

I dream of an internet #infrastructure that would enable me, and others, to #democratize data, storage space, and processing power. Such would bolster research and study across many fields of knowledge.
Allow me to set the scene.
- A #PublicCommons #CommunityMesh #MeshNetwork interlinks public and private schools, weather broadcast stations, public government buildings, medical facilities, public transit centers, large housing complexes, and observation towers in public parks for civil and public academic use. Low-power Radio Wide Area Networks (#LoRaWAN) might prove useful here for environmental sensors.
- #FreedomBox or no-assembly-required #SelfHosting #cloudlet solutions bring #FaultTolerance to the hands of #WebService architects.
- #NetworkAttachedStorage (#NAS) equips locations connected to the network with an opportunity to share _some_ data storage capacity as a cache for the functions of the greater network. (In my opinion, altruistic features should be opt-out conditions.) Such might confer a cache of operable @wikifunctions representations.
- #UniformResourceName (#URN) resolvers (e.g., such as for #DOI, #ARC, #ISBN, #IPFS) give us what we need to collaborate as communities to organize our #DataSets and to distribute amongst our community the load of resolving names of data to their resources.

Da mein "Ich suche nach Software" Aufruf von gestern so gut geklappt hat, bitte ich nochmal um eure Hilfe.
Ich suche ein Webtool (lokaler Webserver) das mit ein Verzeichnis voller Bilder FullScreen mit rechts links swipe wechselbar darstellt. Ich habe schon einiges an oss Web Picturemanager probiert, wie piwigo z.b.aber überall funtioniert fullscreen nur landscape und nur mit aktiver slideshow, was wir nicht wollen.
Selber schreiben soll ich es nicht.

Today I discovered that a key #webservice was moved to another machine, on another port, via different server #software and in a different format. (Once I parse that format I may^H^H^H WILL find other differences.)
