  2. Hello World!

We're building a social web alternative to open graph, powered by @webintents and @fedidb

The website and documentation will be published soon, stay tuned 🚀

  3. I'm a bit distracted with Loops Sound Library, the @webintents release will be delayed until this weekend.

I was ready to push web-intents, but I got some feedback that I wanted to resolve/implement first.

I did also reach out to a few projects regarding Activity Intents compatibility, and look forward to being able to support more platforms that way.

    Stay tuned :)

  4. @julian Sorry, I didn't answer one of your questions

3b86 is very helpful, esp. for less common activities such as "Like" - so it would be great to get that metadata into WebFinger at a minimum.

But for simple "Follow" activities, we can also guess common endpoints by sniffing your server type. It's messy, but it'll work until we have better adoption.

    That's what I'm doing server-side in #Emissary, and I believe @dansup is planning something similar for #WebIntents.

  5. Hey #FediDev gang.. Do you think this is the right way to guide people from personal/organizational websites into the #Fediverse?

Some of this is defined in #FEP3b86. Some of it exists today in #Emissary (and the #oStatus "remote follow") some is being built by @dansup as #WebIntents, and some is just scribbles on paper.

If there's interest, I'm happy to write up the rest of this as an additional #FEP

  10. We are starting with Follow intents, but plan to support many more.

Ever seen the Facebook Like button?

You will be able to do the same for any fediverse activity, in a privacy-friendly way.

Built and managed by the trusted team behind @PixelFed, @loops and @fedidb, the entire platform is open source, and can be self-hosted!

We're building a better federated future, together ❤️

  11. Imagine sharing a link to your fediverse account to someone not on the fediverse, hoping they follow you.

Now imagine instead that the link you share takes them to a beautiful yet simple landing page that carefully guides them to the ideal platform, geographically closest, and helps them through the onboarding process, recommends the best desktop/mobile client and then follows you from their new account.

Stop dreaming. I'm building this. Wanna help?

  12. Not me starting a new side project while Pixelfed users feel left out, but this will benefit and be coming to Pixelfed too!

I'm in a unique position to leverage FediDB data with the Activity Intent FEP and implement support in Loops and Pixelfed.

It's pretty much done already too, just need to setup the CDN and redesign a few pages

    😉

  15. I definitely think we should revive to do this, perhaps a simpler version. Two JavaScript APIs and one URI scheme (like the `javascript:` one): a Register and an Invoke JS API, and an Invoke URI scheme, and perhaps a fallback URI used with the Invoke API to handle the case where you're invoking something that isn't registered (and that can call a custom URI scheme, so you can fall back to a native app!)

Ideally you could pass around data (like success/error or a new post) too.

My thought is that this is a great case for #WebIntents . /cc @paul

That said, I think the most practical option for Automattic would be to ask for your Mastodon API server, let you log in, and then save your key for future likes/shares/whatevs.
