I'm so excited for this next year on the #Fediverse.
And the more I learn, the more I think #BridgyFed is going to become a foundational part of our network.
I just posted my first messages from #Emissary across Bridgy to my account on BlueSky.
I still have some things to fix (on my end, not theirs) but it worked.
IT WORKED.
NGL, I feel a little like Morpheus right now. And just think of what it will mean for every account set up on #Bandwagon...

As I understand it, Mastodon is building to the MLS in ActivityPub spec from the SWF - the same one #Bonfire and #Emissary are building to today. So it will be compatible with those.
I think Hollos uses the Signal protocol, which is similar, but not the same as MLS.
What other #E2EE solutions are you referring to?

The Programmer’s Fulcrum: 27 February, 2026Welcome to this week’s The Programmer’s Fulcrum.
It’s your weekly review of the essential news in the Open Media Network and Fediverse development communities with a focus on devastating big tech via Techno Anarchism. We aim to provide actionable content you can use to destroy Techno Feudalism each week. It has the additional benefit of weakening authoritarianism.
IMHO, the best way to do […]

In related news to the #Tribler outage, I have started researching #torrent traffic over #I2P. #Emissary had a few missing dependencies on Alpine Linux 3.23.3, which were solvable through apk (I have this documented for anyone interested). The #qbittorrent setup was a piece of cake. Does anyone happen to know how to test that *only* I2P traffic is being sent through qbittorrent? Also unsure where to find torrents on I2P. Also, how does DNS work when using an I2P http proxy for I2P addresses?

Hey #FediDev gang.. Do you think this is the right way to guide people from personal/organizational websites into the #Fediverse?
Some of this is defined in #FEP3b86. Some of it exists today in #Emissary (and the #oStatus "remote follow") some is being built by @dansup as #WebIntents, and some is just scribbles on paper.
If there's interest, I'm happy to write up the rest of this as an additional #FEP

I was fortunate present my thoughts at #FOSDEM 2026. I think it went pretty well... though a little rushed.
It's at least a good survey of where I think we as a community need to head, and how my work on #Emissary meets each of these needs
Key Points:
* Bring creators to the Fediverse (#OnlinePayments)
* Work together to operate like a single unit (#FEP3b86)
* Killer Features they can't copy (#DataPortability)
* Whatever YOU do, go make the Fediverse betterhttps://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/event/CP7KWX-emissary-and-the-fediverse/

@evan Here’s my take, hope it helps?
https://github.com/benpate/sherlock
Sherlock is a #Golang library that assembles any data/metadata it can find on a URL (including #WebFinger, #RSS, #OpenGraph, and #IndieWeb #MicroFormats ) and returns an #ActivityStream back to its caller. There’s composable add-ons for caching and other custom rules.
Overall, mapping to ActivityStreams was pretty easy. Sherlock is the key component in #Emissary that helps it participate in many different social webs.

From the beginning, I have been aiming #Emissary in this general direction. My Fediverse server is slowly coming online (Linked Data Signatures WTF??). Shared services are built deep into its core. I hope some nascent #OpenAPIs are available when I get there.
Today, I'm committing to:
1. Implement every single Open API that improves the user experience
2. If we need an API that doesn't exist, I'll work with whoever is interested to publish one.

Thank you. That's good to know. I'm not at all an a11y expert (not even close) so your real-world experience is super valuable. Do you have a recommendation on the best way to start testing this with an actual app? I'd love to test #Emissary against the most problematic browser/screen-reader combinations to see how this works.
Sometimes, we need to pull in some Javascript (or #Hyperscript) to fulfill sophisticated requirements.
