  1. Reading the end of Bad Moon Rising (about the Weather Underground) the author claimed they broke decades old promises to never live peacefully under the US system.

I however would argue that they "served their tours" more than almost anyone else in that era. While other talked, Weather DID.
They brought the war home, and played a role in the defeat of US imperialism in Vietnam.

Also remember that both Richard Nixon and the US attack on Vietnam were defeated prior to any Weatherpeople surfacing. They had not only served their tours but played a role in defeating two immediate enemies.

Their role was shared with Jane Alpert's guerillas, famous for blowing up Selective Service's Whitehall Induction Center during Woodstock. Two million draft files were shredded and burned, disabling legal enforcabilty of induction orders for much of the Northeast.

Also important were the fighters who burned, bombed, or raided draft boards by the hundreds, again destroying files. Most famous of these were the Catonsville 9, who raided one draft board and burned the files outside in a metal trashcan. Their fuel was napalm made from gasoline-and their own blood. The press coverage was fucking huge and it was an international sensation. The use of napalm was of course to call attention to the US napalming civilians in Vietnam

Note that if Trump tries to bring back the draft, repeating that work today only requires cyberwarfare rather than kinetic direct action.
