A complex area of low pressure is approaching Tasmania from the west.
It's nicely reflected in the pressure sensors built into my Aqara temperature sensors, showing easily the lowest pressure since I got them all together in April.

It’s always fun when the wind speed exceeds the Nyquist Limit of the Doppler radar, confusing it into thinking the wind is in the other direction.
(The red bits in the attached image are not “away from” the Mt Koonya radar, but instead toward it at something more than 90 km/h)

“While Europeans have migrated toward unified modeling, in which the same model is used for both operational weather forecasting and research on weather and climate, the operational and research enterprises remain largely separate in the United States.”

A public data tool has just been released by CoCoRaHS providing new ways to visualize the data collected by volunteers at over 26,000 stations across North America and parts of the Caribbean.

Great post on TidBITS about weather apps and websites. Lots there I had never heard about. Especially love the clean design of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute website yr.no, and it works around the world.

As pretty a picture as you could want of yesterday's storm passage: Barometric pressure bottoms out; wind veers and wind speed peaks; and RH starts to fall. #MEwx #WeatherNerd #weather
