Wear Orange began on June 2, 2015, the day that would have been Hadiya Pendleton's 18th birthday.
Wear Orange is now three days each year. National Gun Violence Awareness Day is the first Friday in June and the accompanying weekend is Wear Orange Weekend. This year, these dates are June 2 to June 4.

I turn another year older today, but there are tens of thousands of Americans who never make it to their birthday each year because of #gunviolence. It's why I will #WearOrange and strongly encourage you to support #Everytown.

volunteer Latatia Stewart was killed from gun violence. She worked tirelessly to fight for gun reform in the name of her son Gregory, who was shot on 5/29/20. His killer has not been found. She was in the midst of planning a #WearOrange event.
