Die Werte vom Blutzuckersensor werden per Funk an das DBLG1 gesendet. Dort verarbeitet und dann die Insulinpumpe per Funk angesteuert.

Sigh. Debugging sensor connectivity issues (the one in my arm, helping keep me alive).
Change a setting.
Wait 5 minutes for another attempt to communicate with sensor.
Change a setting.
Wait 5 minutes.
Change a setting.
Reboot.
Wait 10 minutes, because after reboot first time communication will work. (unless the reboot caused you to miss the communications moment, in which case wait another 5 minutes).
And so on...

I'm talking to someone with a kid with #type1diabetes and they're interested in hosting their own, but they don't have that much experience wrangling computers to do their bidding. I have some ideas, but I'd like to first see what people do use.

Exciting news! Dana-i insulin pumps are now possible to get in #Poland!
They're among the best supported by #AndroidAPS. They're still Fucking Expensive (~16k PLN, about two average monthly salaries before taxes, you pay full price), but they're here!

The Warm Days are here, so I guess by now the experiment is conclusive: mixing 1:1 #insulin #FIASP with something else (in my case, liprolog) still gives you faster action, but generally no site blockages during the 3-4 days I keep the site and tubing. Pure fiasp could result in a blockage within 48 hours.

@MaryAustinBooks I was thinking of wearing my Nightscout shirt because I’m visiting my endocrinologist that day. It has #WeAreNotWaiting on it and I suspect that would be misconstrued as a political message rather than the slogan for a project about taking control of our chronic condition.

@Em0nM4stodon @tinker there's the #WeAreNotWaiting movent, that a bunch of #diabetes tech companies don't fight very hard or outright embrace, that gives control and #FLOSS automation to the people dealing with (mostly) #t1d. And thanks to all that, the #hope is in what someone said, "we're the first generation that has the chance to die of something else than diabetes".

@Npars01 @tinker @coreysnipes looking how #WeAreNotWaiting is doing things, providing source is ok. Providing build instructions is ok. Building it and using it yourself is ok. But if you give the ready thing to someone else, that counts as unlicensed distribution of medical product, and that's the part that's heavily regulated and penalised.

@mich_waveform depends what you mean by "hacking" - some pumps you can simply talk to, they support remote control using known protocols, like my Dana R controlled using #AndroidAPS. #WeAreNotWaiting is another term that may help you connect with people doing that and see what they're doing.

There's an update to Shuggah (Diabetes app for iOS). It has an interesting change.

I've had to keep the app keepalive set to aggressive to be reliable. This has a noticeable impact on battery. It also wasn't 100% reliable.

It now has a heartbeat you can set to your sensor's bluetooth connection. The heartbeat wakes up the app for background updates. This is supposed to reduce the battery impact by Shuggah to almost none. This is also supposed to be way more reliable.

Libre 3 is supported. It doesn't actually get data from the sensor. It just uses it to wake up the app and retrieve data from librelinkup and then send to Nightscout.

I'm going to run with this for a bit and see how it goes.

- up to 50/month if you're a kid with FGM, or with CGM that needs to be replaced every 6, 7, or 14 days
- up to 100/month if you're an adult with CGM, or a kid with CGM that needs to be replaced every 10 days
- up to 400 / 6 months if you have CGM that needs replacing every 180 days

I'm sorry about your grandson. It's a lot to manage, and I was "fortunate" enough for it to happen when I was able to manage it myself.
